A HOME FOR RASCAL(Book Review by Caitlin Smith)

Today I finished an interesting book called "A Home For Rascal" from the series "My Naughty Little Puppy".This is the first of the six books. The author is Holy Webb. The illustater is Kate Pankhurst. This book was published in 2010 by Stripes Publishing in Great Britan. The characters in the story are the Thomas family which consists of Ellie the youngest in the family, her elder sister Lila and brother Max,mum and dad,Grandad and his cat Freda, Auntie Gemma, Ellie 's friend Christy and her Labrador dog, Bouncer and Rascal the Jack Russel puppy who is the main character.
This story is about Ellie who had always wanted a puppy especially since she received a book about dogs from her Auntie Gemma.Ellie wants a small, cuddly sort of puppy unlike Max and Lila who want a big dog.Once the Thomas family agree on the type of dog, a Jack Russell, they visit a dog breeder they found on the Internet. While at the breeders Ellie finds a dog with a naughty expression and a bouncy character under the kitchen table. It is white with a brown mask over his ears and the top of his face like a bugler and that is how he got his name. The real adventure begins when the Thomas family take Rascal home.
The funnies part I liked was when Rascal snuffed around the edge of his bowl like a little Hoover. The lesson I learned from this story is that it is hard work and a lot of responsibility taking care of a puppy and it cannot be fed human food or too much food and to tell the dog off in a stern voice when he is naughty.
I would recommend this book for children ages 6-8 and for anyone who loves dogs and wants one for a pet.
