THE OWL WHO WAS AFRAID OF THE DARK -Book Review

The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark.

The author of this book is Jill Tomlinson and the illustration is by Paul Howard. This book was first published in Great Britain 1968 by Methuen and co Ltd. This story is 48 years old and I is one of my favorite book. It's about an owl called Plop who is afraid of the dark. The writer describes Plop as fat and fluffy with knackety knees, round eye with a heart shaped ruff. Through out the story he is also described as a giant Catherine wheel, a thunderbolt, a roly poly pudding (yum), a wolly ball, a shooting star and a fat little snowman.

Who Plop really is an 8 week old baby barn owl with an enormous appetite and prefer the day time to night. His parents Mr and Mrs Barn Owl find it almost impossible to get any sleep as Plop is so very noisy either practicing his Eeeks or jiggling up and down on the branch where his parents are trying to roost. Plop is sent to meet 6 different people and a cat to find out all about the dark.

In the end Plop understand that dark is exciting, kind, fun, necessary, fascinating, wonderful, beautiful and super. And Plop is known as Plop - the night bird.

I recommend this book for anyone who has a fear of the dark by feeling it and not knowing about it.
My drawing of PLOP.
